An Investment in the Future of Design and Construction

The CSI Foundation’s mission is to conduct research, education, and recognition in the area of process improvement of the built environment life cycle. In so doing, the program scope for the Foundation includes live and online continuing education; research and development; special recognition and scholarship programs.

The CSI Foundation has conducted successful projects including:

  • Developing GreenFormat (www.greenformat.com) in partnership with the Pankow Foundation, BuildingGreen and CSI.
  • Developing construction terminology and interfacing with the International Framework for Dictionaries in partnership with the National Energy Management Institute.
  • Providing disaster relief and business recovery assistance to CSI members after the hurricanes of 2005.
  • Providing support for student activities and participation at the CSI Annual Convention.
  • Providing scholarship assistance to students affiliated with the CSI Central Pennsylvania Chapter.

The CSI Foundation maintains several endowment funds to support the mission of the foundation in advancing the construction industry. The CSI Foundation is a tax-exempt corporation as defined by section 501(c)3 of the IRS Code. Donations to CSI Foundation Funds are normally tax-deductible.

CSI College of Fellows – Student and Emerging Professionals (SEP) Fund

The SEP Fund was established in 2008. Earnings from the fund are used to provide support of students’ and emerging professionals’ interest in the construction industry.

Donations to the fund may be sent directly to the CSI Foundation at 110 South Union Street, Suite 100, Alexandria, VA 22314. Richard A. Eustis – CSI College of Fellows Fund

The College of Fellows Fund was established in 2006 through the generous donation of Former CSI President Richard A. Eustis, PE, FCSI, CCCA, CSC. Earnings from the fund are used to provide annual financial resources to the CSI College of Fellows.

CSI Central Pennsylvania Chapter Scholarship Fund

The CSI Central Pennsylvania Chapter Scholarship Fund provides tuition, fees and books assistance to students enrolled in higher education programs with a high grade point average and who are involved in community and leadership activities. The CSI Central Pennsylvania Chapter Board determines the amount of each award and recipients annually.

Gary A. Betts Memorial Fund

The Betts Memorial Fund was established in 2008 in memory of Former CSI President and Distinguished Member Gary Betts, FCSI, CCS. Donations to the fund are restricted.

The Fund supports projects the advance the mission of the CSI Foundation in harmony with the special interests of Gary Betts.

CSI Hurricane Relief Fund

The Hurricane Relief Fund was established in 2005 through the generous donation of CSI Members. The $16,000 collected for the Fund was used to provide assistance to CSI Members who were impacted by the devastating hurricanes Katrina and Rita. More than 30 CSI Members utilized the Fund for relocation assistance, career placement, business equipment replacement or restoration, and professional education fees.

The Fund remains available to respond to future emergency relief efforts. The Fund is currently dormant since fully distributing collected funds to CSI Members between 2005 and 2008.
