First BPMA Event Held!
 The inaugural meeting of the CSI Building Product Manufacturers Alliance (BPMA) took place March 3-5, 2008, at Georgia Tech University. Participants in this first meeting shared the latest research in key industry areas -- including Sustainability and BIM -- that are redefining the construction industry. The mix of presentations and roundtable discussion groups provided opportunities to share knowledge among participants and leading experts, and to immediately apply that knowledge to business realities.
Participants also identified issues affecting building product manufacturers that the BPMA can explore in future meetings. These issues included:
- Deriving value from product modeling investments
- Linking product specifications with models
- Integrating building codes and products
- Educating field forces in LEED and Sustainability
- Developing standards for product information in Life Cycle Analysis
- Sharing market intelligence and research
- Improving cross-building team interaction
- Improving the climate for new product adoption
- Effective value engineering for product alternatives
Alliance members want to build on what was learned and accomplished in this inaugural event, and plan to hold two meetings a year. The goal of the organization is to bring together CSI’s access to the entire building team with leading building product manufacturers to advance the industry and our organizations.
